Stage Your Home Without A Decorator

Many people today are planning to redesign their home for a new look or stage their home for sale. Let’s examine each of these activities in more detail.

First, why are many people doing a home redesign? The economy today has a lot to do with it. The housing market has lost approximately 50% of its value so selling a home and purchasing a new one is difficult or impossible if you have a mortgage. The option to a new home is to redesign the old one, and perhaps adding an addition.

Doing a home redesign is very intimidating for many people. It involves a number of areas of expertise such as design theme, furniture selection, layout, color theory, accessories, fabrics, arrangements, cost control and budgeting, etc. If you have the money you can always hire a professional designer or decorator. However, in today’s economy many people are looking for ways to do it themselves. Fortunately, there are a great number of self help options available on the internet.

Even more difficult for many is having to sell their home. Again the economy is the culprit. Not all realtors are good at staging homes, so what are your options? What is staging a home in the first place and why do you need to do it. Why can’t you just sell your home as is and the prospects can take it as is. Well, here are the reasons given by most realtors and professional stagers.

First, over time most families accumulate an enormous amount of furniture and goods.
Unless you are a minimalist, your place will probably look cluttered to the prospect who is trying to visualize their furniture in your home. The prospect buys on emotion and you must appeal to them. Therefore, less is more appealing. Staging professionals know what to keep and what to discard. They know how to layout to create a pleasing visual arrangement to the prospective buyer.

Second, color and arrangements are vital to get a quick sale and an acceptable price.
Professional stagers have a list of key buying factors that are paramount to success.
Again, should you decide to sell the home without a realtor or your realtor is not a professional stager, there are options available on the internet to help you accomplish this task.Want more information on living room design?

Finally, stagers will be able to recommend any changes or upgrades that will be necessary to sell the home at the maximum price, i.e. flooring, counters, etc. Again, there is a plethora of help available to you on the internet to help in this area. For more details on %link2!

In conclusion, you can find the help you need to redesign or stage you home on the internet without hiring a professional decorator.

Fireplaces – Which Style Is Best For Your Home?

Fireplaces have a special place and purpose in people’s homes that goes far beyond just providing heat. They also give a home style and provide a reason, as well as a cozy atmosphere, for people to gather together. With the wide variety of fireplaces available, those considering purchasing one need to look at the different types and think about which one will be best for them.

Gas fireplaces are very modern and have definite advantages. They provide the heat, and much of the feel, of more traditional fireplaces, with much fewer hassles. As they use gas, it is unnecessary to go through all the labors of splitting, storing and transporting wood. Also, since gas does not produce any soot or dirt wood, they do not need to be cleaned after being used.

They are also easy to install. As they can be installed with little more than a slight hole in a wall for exterior venting, they are about the easiest fireplace to set up. To get the feeling of having logs on the fire, gas fireplaces now have ceramic logs that resemble real wood logs burning. While this is not for everyone, many people are happy to sacrifice some of the realism of a traditional fireplace for the convenience of a gas fireplace in busy times.

For people who want the real thing, nothing matches the feeling of watching real logs burning in a fireplace, and the work associated with keeping a fireplace going is often part of the charm and appeal of having one. Traditional fireplaces are normally constructed of brick, marble or stone, and the openings of these fireplaces are covered with glass or metal screens.

These fireplaces tend to be expensive to build and take up a considerable amount of space. However, they have have the advantage of not using fossil fuels. For those with access to a lot of wood, they can be a great money saver.

Cast iron fireplaces can be used as inserts in traditional fireplaces or stand alone as fireplaces by themselves. As cast iron is so sturdy, it can take a lot of wear and tear before it requires any maintenance. Additionally, cast iron fireplaces can be configured to use wood, gas or even electricity depending on the needs of the owner. They come in various sizes and are available in in both indoor models and outdoor models. The smallest models can be used on camping trips and other outdoor activities.

Home Accessories : Why A Futon Is A Great Piece Of Furniture

Futons are a great piece of furniture for pretty much everyone. They are cost efficient, flexible, and offer other advantages too, all of which combined have resulted in them being one of the hottest home accessories around right now.

When the advantages of futons are brought up, the first thing to come to the minds of many is their use when guests come and stay over. Space and monetary considerations limit furniture options for many people and make it impossible for them to have extra, or enough, beds for guests. For those people, futons are ideal.

They do not require a bed frame and can simply be folded up and stored away when the guests leave. Being much smaller than a bed is, they open up more spaces as potential places to sleep too. This means that they are perfect for people whose homes have small rooms.

When used with a frame, futons become a multi-purpose piece of furniture. What was a bed last night can become a sofa in the morning. The frames can be adjusted at any time, and foldable mattresses mean they can be transformed in minutes.

This flexibility and simplicity makes them cost efficient too. While maintaining their style, futon frames are usually simple and inexpensive, and futon mattresses are much cheaper than a standard bed, mattress or sofa. Furthermore, money is saved as less pieces of furniture need to be bought in total.

The design of futons also makes them very easy to disassemble and break down. This makes them easier to move within a home and reduces expenses when moving to a new house or apartment. For younger people, who tend to move every year or so, this is a major plus point.

Futon covers add to the flexibility and cost effectiveness of futons. These covers protect the futons and extend their life spans. When the covers wear out, they can be replaced cheaply and easily. Available in far more colors and styles than can be mentioned here, many people change them with the seasons.

It is worth understanding about the different types of futon frames. There are three main types of futon frames. The tri-fold frame is designed to be folded in thirds the short way on the frame. While this offers more options when placed on the frame, the down side is that they are less comfortable than the more popular bi-fold frame because of their thinner mattress.

With mattresses designed to be folded once the long way on the frame, bi-fold frames are considered to be very comfortable. They come in full, queen and chair sizes. Also using the bi-fold structure is the loveseat futon frame. They are designed to fit into tighter spaces than regular frames. As for which type of futon is best, it really depends on personal preference and the size of your home.

http://www.futonsforsale.net offers a wealth of information on futons and the best futons for sale, including bi-fold futons, futon covers, beds, sofas and accessories.

Does The Kitchen Really Have To Be Big?

In nearly every home environment there is an argument about how much work needs to be done on what room and a lot of the time it is the kitchen. Do people really need the enormous kitchens they have? Do you really need one of those big fancy designer kitchens wine its own built in wine cooler? I don’t think that a kitchen should have that amount of money spent on it, however some of them look really worth the money. How come people spend all this money on a kitchen that they only use once a day? I really don’t have a clue to be honest

All in all I think it’s got nothing to do with how rich or poor you are more being how willing you are to impress.

The first thing a new guest to a house does it go into the kitchen. The thing is when people walk into a house they have never been in before the first thing they will do is judge it and thats just how the human mind works. It’s unfortunate that is what we do as humans, we wan’t to be better than everyone else. How much money do you have to spend on a new kitchen before people will start seeing it as a really unique, modern, well designed kitchen? If people are going to judge everything from your flooring to your choice of dinnerware, is there much point trying to impress at all?

For many years the decision to extend the house for a bigger kitchen has been quite topical in my house. Personally I wouldn’t have a big kitchen, but I understand why people get them. As in my house where all the kitchen is used for is cooking one maybe two meals a day with only one person being in there at any one time. So why after a party does everyone want to get a bigger kitchen? The answer is, people care what other people think about their homes and I really don’t see why. As well as this there are some fantastic top of the range kitchens out there as well as the bespoke kitchens that you design yourself. You can customise everything from your lighting plan to the style of your wine rack. Still, I really don’t see the point of forking out so much money for something you use once or twice a day.

Tiffany’s Vision — Withstanding The Test Of Time

The last part of Tiffany’s career was characterized by successful, though mass produced lines of more “modernist” design. Surprisingly, his biography, commissioned and published in 1912, makes almost no mention his lamps. So, at the age of 64, with his legacy written, Tiffany’s regular involvement with the company was on the the way down. Lamps of stamped metal were produced in mass. But these and similar designs, with cleaner, modern lines were not the prized objects of his original vision. Nor were they ones that his craftsmen and women, had traditionally produced.

Yet, the old nature based models were kept in production and special orders were filled when needed. Of the glass shades in production during this period, the ornate leaded glass shades still comprised over half. However over time, production declined and Louis C. Tiffany Furnaces was dissolved in April of 1924 and replace by the A. Douglas Nash Company. It is thought that the leaded glass department was closed in 1924 as well.

Surprisingly, Tiffany leaded glass lamps continued to sell from back stock when Tiffany Studios filed for bankruptcy in 1932. Though Tiffany died in 1933, the firm put out a price list and photographs of eighty-five lamps, the remains of old stock. A number of which were leaded floral shade designs from ten years earlier. It had taken that long for the stock to dwindle.

At this time, the slowly swinging pendulum of taste was already beginning to show signs of once again seeing the value of Tiffany’s work. A 1933 article by Philip Johnson, a proponent of Modernism himself, reflected on the shallowness of fashion, and its effects on true artistic vision, “In most houses there are still a few such pieces—perhaps a Tiffany-glass lampshade, a bud vase, or a bronze lady…These objects are now regarded with fashionable horror. Such horrors are, however, unjustified. It is only proper perspective on the period that is lacking.”

Twenty-five years later in 1958, the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York put on a Tiffany Retrospective which included some of Tiffany’s lamps. This was followed by an Art Nouveau exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art which included a Wisteria lamp. This reignited the same fervor for Tiffany’s art that occurred in 1900.

Over the next dozen years collectors began to search out Tiffany lamps with greater and greater devotion. As soon as January 1971, a seven light Pond Lily lamp was sold for $1,900 and a ten-light lily went for $3,750. In April a Dragonfly lamp sold for $2,500. But the most by far the most looked for designs were the large floral lamps. A Tiffany Wisteria which originally sold for $400 in 1906 was auctioned off at the Chicago Art Galleries for $18,500 in November 1970.

In December 2008, Sotheby’s Antiquities sale in New York auctioned a number of Tiffany lamps. A Peony lamp went to an American collector for $750,000, almost double the high estimate. A Fruit lamp went as expected, for $550,000. Finally a 79” Magnolia floor lamp sold for $1,762,500 to a mysteriously anonymous buyer.

The Industry Of Style These Days

When the first human being, in Eden or on earth, covered his body with leaves, or later with an animal skin, the fashion industry was founded at that time. Though we are not well-known with the style and attire of that time until the ancient civilizations preserved few images in the solidity of rocks, through cave paintings and through rock-cut sculptures.

Terra Cotta figurines of the oldest Harappan Age show interesting headdresses that can be compared with any modern hairstyle with a heavy look. The Dancing Girl of Mohenjo Daro with bangles in her arms is not behind any fashion sculpt of any age. While no one can deny the allure and glamour of Cleopatra; a woman with illustrious political skills and a long nose, who crafted many fashion styles from jewelry to outfits of the great Egyptian Empire of Scissors.

But fashion is not only linked to women always! In ancient times of Cleopatra, Scissors always wore clothes that were royal, expensive, stylistic, attractive and special. At the same Egyptian soil, the Pharaohs were never behind. The great Biblical Character of Moses, if taken as an Egyptian Prince, was always a portrayed, in tales and later in movies, in a charismatic outfit.

While in the Western part of the globe, the Greeks and Romans not only marked high standards in Art, Architecture, and Warfare, but their unique and elaborate concepts of a perfect and godlike human body, especially of males, supported the appealing army uniforms and court-wears.

The supernatural characters of illustrious Greek, Egyptian and Indian Mythologies did provide uncommon range of apparel; well preserved in the form of painting and sculpture.

These ancient models are still the greatest sources of muse for modern day fashion designers and the origins of the evolved form of cultural trends prevailed through continents from Australia to America and from Asia to Africa.

Cultural influences are stronger when we consider the economic aspect of the fashion industry. Business needs market where it can present fresh ideas and products in every new day. Although in this global age, acculturation is very much on. But even then there are many cultural aspects that can instigate or impede certain trends. A colorful bikini is a great fashion market item in Western or secular and modern cultures, but it is almost a taboo in some rigid and fundamental areas. Contrary to that, a veil is widespread in fundamental countries, but has no market in secular or modern world. However, so many fashion articles could get the status of cross-cultural ambition. Especially in ornaments, there is not much difference across the globe with immunity of little diversity in shape, material and style. Earrings, bracelets, pendants, bangles and rings are always, and everywhere, in fashion since ages having big market scope in all societies and cultures.

On the individual level, fashion is not just a simple word or an basic attitude, or even an overwhelming desire. Fashion is a multifarious dogma that can influence an individual in many ways.

“As process it is [fashion] sustained through some complex amalgamation of inspiration, imitation and institutionalization, all of which seem necessary, even though the nature and degree of their fusion is, as we can infer from fashion history, quite variable.” (Fred Davis. Fashion, Culture and Identity. P. 123)

Therefore, the multifaceted incorporation of fashion, where force an individual at the same time, it also institutionalize itself on many grounds. This institutionalization is not only at the academic level, but due to its capacity of holding an individual, society, or even the whole world has created a huge market for investors.

This feature has made fashion, throughout past decades, an industry with small to bulk product possibility that can be marketed all around the world. It attracted many business tycoons and groups of companies to invest in fashion industry, or to label some of their products as fashion products. This idea initially covered the clothes brand but soon after, it encompassed every utility of everyday life. From earrings to pendants, from watches to glasses, from shoes to wallets, from perfumes to hairstyles, everything was produced and marketed, exported and imported on such a huge scale that it actually influenced the economy of various countries. Apart from the individual fashion, bathroom accessories, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom décor, landscaping of gardens and lawns, furniture, automobiles, electronics or even language accents, everything got under the broad term of fashion. Products singularly and brands collectively helped and polished lifestyle across the continents. So, inevitably fashion market got vitality.

Despite quality, comfort and durability the exclusivity of a product and its luxurious look are the reasons that produce scope for a product to be marketed. That is the market policy of almost every fashion company revolves around these features.

Simultaneously, the marketing and availability of various products have developed the customers’ sense of selection and exposure with a comparative buying power. Fashion is not always brand conscious; it is item based as well. Sometime, the need for a particular item may force us to go beyond the brand-range and select something less popular. This is a challenge all the famous brands have to cope with. Ian Griffiths and Nicola White, in their edited work: The Fashion Business- Theory, Practice, Image, commented on item shopping as:

“Item shopping is still very much part of our lives, but market saturation has taken its toll and replacement purchases of core product continue to decline. Added to this is the changing profile of the customer, who, through constant exposure, is becoming wiser, more astute, more confident in mixing products and consequently, likely to be less brand loyal.”

The customer satisfaction is very important in the fashion industry; either it is attained by making customer needful for an upcoming product through advertising, or by providing him what he is striving for. The former caused the creative and design department to experiment with new ideas and shapes while the latter forced the quality controlled production with maintained standards.

Modern day fashion is rapid, short lived, more corporate in its structure, and psychological than ever before. Due to better and quick sources of communication and information, the international or external markets are open for every fashion company to do business, multinational companies can be found with variety of products in all the continents with difficult network and appropriate marketing policies according to the socio-cultural requirements of a certain country. Especially, when we talk about the couture and cosmetics, contemporary trends are getting more and more cross-cultural due to viewership of various fashion channels on TV. This is far quicker source than the print media. So, the skills and concepts are also crossing the geographical and ideological boundaries of different parts of the world regardless of ethnic rigidity and conventionalism. That is one reason that fashion is also taken as the reflection of the progress in some developing countries. Fred Divis described clothing as a visual metaphor in his compilation; Fashion, Culture and Identity:

“As visual metaphor the clothing that is dress (one should perhaps distinguish between the two) is capable of communicating many things including something as subtle, for example, as the wearer’s reflexive awareness…”

This is what has made fashion companies responsible for customer care at the same time, when they were thinking to be profitable. You can find friendly policies of such companies towards its employees, suppliers and customers. Together with the advertising campaigns, Fashion Weeks with new designs and colors, serve additionally to promote new concepts. These Fashion Weeks not only display an array of new products, but also serve to share with the audience visually. Dresses and accessories worn by models doing catwalk, are more lively and enthralling than the mere display on mannequins. Normally with a range of Fall, Spring, Summer and Winter collection, Fashion Weeks boost market demands and promote its associated businesses as well. Fashion Shows now have become cultural events which are happily sponsored by the corporate sector jual baju online.

At modern day fashion companies, there is an underlying and long standing commitment to ethical trading, based upon the belief, that business can be both profitable and responsible. So, fashion companies believe that building meaningful long term relationships with employees, suppliers and communities is good business practice for them and is what the customers expect popular brands. This is, kaos promosi and always has been, the founding principle of different brands as Corporate-Social responsibility.

Fashion is not only a phenomenon for luxurious life, but this concept deals with humanity as well. True meaning of fashion is to put life at ease and to facilitate humanity with its respective life style. That is why, modern fashion companies are conscious for the fact of supporting special people of society with special needs. This phenomenon is causing fashion to be responsive towards special people.

Therefore, the market and its demands may vary from community to community. For example, the series may get different in a London store in comparison with the variety at a Singapore or China store. No doubt, in the modern world, ‘East meets West’ but climate, culture, sociology and psychological needs can force fashion designers and companies to provide a vast canvas for the diversity of customers worldwide. But there are few items that are evergreen. Jeans and Bags are such commodities that are always in demand and ask for the latest styles and comfort at the same time.

Modern day fashion is global, human, culture and society friendly. At one end it emphasizes collective psychology and trends of a society, and at the other end, it deals with the individual needs of customer care. Healthy trends, balanced life, bedcover and occupied lifestyle are, what the modern fashion companies have to consider deeply. It is no more a matter of looking good and attractive, true fashion and accessories join comfort and trend together. Fashion companies are somehow, have become institutes that are shaping behaviors, psychology and healthy and innovative thinking. The concept of being relaxed and making others too, by wearing good looking, comfortable, trendy and eye-catching outfits in soothing or energetic colors, is the order of the modern day.

A self-taught fashion designer, Claiborne founded her company with her husband Art Ortenberg, Leonard Boxer, Jerome Chazen in 1976. For the year, that figure breaks down to approximately $19.2 million per day. Contractors, builders and real estate specialists seem to become some of the most highly paid professionals even when the rest of the world seems to be fighting for their everyday incomes. This statement although a little indigestible for most of us, once we see such a parity. The American Blind and Wallpaper Factory is a really useful resource for finding the great blinds and wallpaper for your house, as well as anything else that you might need for decor. Before first discovering the American Blind and Wallpaper Factory, I might have to run around lots of stores to acquire my supplies. Believe me, there are not that many home decor outlets in Dublin. I had to put on my awesome Jd Webb CD in my auto and resign myself to an entire afternoon of running around from store to store! First I would have to go to the hardware store to pick up wallpaper glue and curtain rods, as well as mounting hardware and brushes. Then it was off to a wallpaper store or two. Then in time, I might go to the fabric store to pick up fabric to make my own curtains – having already given up on finding the right curtains ready made at the store. Then I would have to sew them, install them, and possibly run out again if any of the mounting hardware failed. I barely had sufficient supply of XS energy drinks to keep up with the whole ordeal! But with the American Blind and Wallpaper Factory I can do all of this from the comfort of my own home and, wonder of wonders, I do not have to make my own curtains anymore.

It was initially hard to adjust to buying all of my decorating supplies at the American Blind and Wallpaper Factory, but I have adjusted to it. The first time a friend suggested that I use the American Blinds and Wallpaper Factory, I just could not get into it. It was impossible for me to look at these pics of a house decorated with a exact shade, or a exact wallpaper on the screen, and translate that into how it could end up looking in my own house. I was so used to going into the hardware store and looking for shades in person, that I just could not make the transition very easily. But soon using the American Blind and Wallpaper Factory became like second nature for me.

Today, I could not imagine the hassle of buying all of my home fixings without the American Blind and Wallpaper Factory. The option is remarkable, because they’re a warehouse and can keep an extensive inventory all at one location. Aside from which, I have come to like the way which the American Blind and Wallpaper Factory shows you all of the blinds and wallpaper already set up in a house so that you can see exactly what it appears like. I used to dislike it, but nowadays it makes it much easier for me to get a concept of what I am doing.
